Dr. Yamen Akhras is a graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Dentistry. There he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2012. After graduating, Dr. Akhras worked in the capacity of both an associate dentist and a practice owner in the Southwest Suburbs of Illinois and the state of Wisconsin. After extensive restorative and surgical experience, Dr. Akhras decided to pursue a 3-year specialty residency program in Periodontics and Dental Implants at the University of Illinois Department of Periodontics, where he was also chief resident in his 3rd and final year. Dr. Akhras also completed a clinical research study comparing minimally invasive and traditional periodontal regenerative surgery, with two papers he co-authored undergoing peer review before publication. This effort culminated in a Masters of Oral Sciences degree (MS). He is currently a member of the American Academy of Periodontology.

Dr. Akhras is an avid learner and frequent traveler, having traveled extensively all over the world to learn the latest on the topic of Periodontics and Dental Implants. He has extensive experience in placing/restoring dental implants, surgical extractions, IV moderate sedation, and directing the dental team when treating complex cases under General Anesthesia. He is the most recent addition to the exceptionally talented team comprising Doctors Crosby and Trahan, where he joined the 40-year old practice in June 2024.

Dr. Akhras is married to his wife Nora and lives in the suburbs of Illinois with their three boys. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, swimming and reading.
